painting, to me, is a magical act; a way of paying attention. when i'm working, ideas, forgotten memories, bits of old dreams will often surface suddenly. i find the world becomes more fluid, more colorful and making art becomes an act of freedom.
i seek to coax imagery from dreamtime or carefully construct it from the language of myth, alchemy, the kabbalah; to make a record of those moments of amphibious intersection between the mythic world and the waking world. i'm most pleased when i'm able to express this with beauty or humor.
